Mountain Vista Boys Lacrosse Booster Club
December 20, 2007
Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Jim England, Lori England, David Geiler, Nancy Geiler, Carrie Hachtel, Mark Hachtel, Gayle Hayungs, Donna Sweetin, Jeff Sweetin, Jose Trujillo. Adam Hachtel was player representative.
The meeting began at 7:05 p.m.
Old Business
- Secretary’s Report – Lori England reviewed minutes from the November 15, 2007 meeting. Carrie Hachtel approved the minutes and Jim England seconded.
New Business
- Treasurer’s Report – Mark Hachtel reported for Debbie Galbreath:
- Warren Miller film netted approximately $4700.
- Treasurer’s report needs “recalculating” as it shows $35K+ at the end of the year and it should be closer to $22K. Mark will get with Debbie.
- Discussed possibility of paying for photography this year. The Deadwyler family has done it gratis in the past few years but put much time and effort into it.
- President’s Report – Mark reported:
- Varsity uniforms were chosen by several of the varsity players. The district has new rules this year that we must comply with regarding colors, trims, and a required 3” gusset on sides. Colors chosen for away games were black with green/gold accents. Home game jerseys will be Vegas gold with black/green accents. Manufacturer will be Boathouse. Numbers will be “lasered” into the fabric.
- Warrior gloves had been shipped as of this meeting. STX gloves were still two weeks away.
- Discussed the videographer – no one liked the one we had last year. Mark may speak with the videographer for the football team.
- Fundraising – Carrie Hachtel reported:
- Takeaways from this year’s Warren Miller movie include starting things a little earlier-especially newspaper ads.
- 3rd Level Shootout set for Saturday, April 12th. To date, 24 teams have expressed interest.
- Planning on two referees per game.
- Doug Gies coordinating but needs someone to manage the volunteers for that day.
- Discussion regarding t-shirts for the event and possible names that did not include “Mountain Vista.”
- Another vendor has expressed interest in doing the “Vista” cards. They are cheaper and we can give back what we don’t use. Jose and Mark will investigate.
- Team Logistics/Statistics –
- This position is still in need of coordinator for equipment and fields. Jose has score books and feels that the nets are in good shape.
- Marketing and Merchandising – Gayle reported:
- Helmets and merchandise has been ordered. All is well.
- Discussed purchasing black t-shirts for the office staff with LAX logo and a polo (not black) for Mr. Johnson.
- May run ads in the Highlands Ranch Herald regarding games at Shea. May also hold Youth Nights – free youth admission with purchase of adult ticket.
- Team Building - Donna Sweetin reported:
- Group continues to meet and plan team dinners as well as Awards and Recognition.
- Older varsity players organizing a team bowling event, hopefully during the holiday break.
- Discussed team saying/motto for team t-shirts. Many of the boy’s submissions were lengthy. Jeff suggested “One team…on fight”. Asked for other shorter suggestions as well from club members.
- Off-season Leagues – Gayle Hayungs reported:
- All good. Two JV teams at South Suburban and one Varsity at Foothills.
Coach’s Corner
- Jose is working on fields for the games – Shea, MVHS turf, etc.
- All the lacrosse coaches met recently. Varsity will be coached by Jose, Andrew, and Travis. Doug Gies will help out as time permits. JV coaches will be David Geiler, Alex Bauer and Scott Cohen. Mike Dixon will assist as his school schedule permits. 3rd level will be coached by Shawn Larkin (Heritage Elem PE teacher who assisted with football) and Randy Hoffman.
- Spring tryouts/practice with two-a-days begins February 19th, 2008 with the Green/Gold game on Saturday.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Next meeting is Thursday, January 17, 2008
